Finding Work as a Global Citizen: Get Yourself Noticed in Bangkok

When businesses all across Thailand and indeed the world advertise for vacant positions within their companies, they get an extraordinarily large amount of applications for this one job. This is the same right across the board and it is incredibly competitive out there trying to find a new job. This is why many people find themselves at some kind of crossroads because they are doing a job that they no longer enjoy but they are too afraid to make the leap into something else. Maybe there are no suitable jobs being advertised at this point and it would be a lot easier getting a service provider to do all of the hard work for you.

The ideal situation would be that you were contacted by a head hunter in Bangkok because of the skills and abilities that you can bring to the current market. If you have been working hard at your current position then it’s likely that your bosses have been talking and good workers tend to not stay in the same place for long once the competition knows about them. This is just one way to get yourself noticed on the job market here in Bangkok and the following are just some others.

  • Look at your resume again – If you have been sticking with the same resume over the years then it might be that this might need to be changed in order to make your applications more attractive. It is very normal nowadays that employers use AI to look through all of the early applications so that the numbers can be reduced into a much more manageable group. If your resume differs from the regular layout because you thought this would help you stand out from the crowd, it probably was applicable 10 years ago but that’s no longer the case.
  • Promote yourself online – There are a number of platforms that you can subscribe to for free and on there you put your personal details including your work history and your achievements up until this point. You can pay an additional membership fee and this will open up many new possibilities where potential employers can look through your resume and they may contact you when a suitable position comes up. Many jobs can still go unadvertised because the employer would prefer to look at these platforms to try to find suitable applicants by themselves.
  • Get yourself interview ready – It’s probably been a number of years since you last sat down and went through the interview procedure. Things have changed considerably since then and one example is that current employers expect you to create a PowerPoint of your achievements up until this point and what you can offer to their company. You must also try to keep yourself up-to-date with the industry that you are interested in for the event that you may be contacted for an initial interview.

You should always be promoting yourself every single day of your life and not just in the office but in your social life as well. There are many opportunities to be able to bump into many people who are involved in the industry that you are interested in and they may be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to new job opportunities. Always be striving to put your best foot forward and to create the right first impression either in your social life or in your business life. Just because you are at a crossroads in your working career right now, it doesn’t mean that the perfect job doesn’t exist.
